Several Montclair police officers were recognized on Wednesday for their service to the community.

During a celebration held at Edgemont Park, Robin Lavorato, Executive Director of the Essex Health and Wellness Recovery Center at Saint Michael’s Medical Center recognized Detective Sergeant Charles Cunningham, along with Detective Michael Mickens, and Detective Macheo McClean for their efforts/assistance in serving those that suffer from the disease of addiction. The Board of Directors of the Essex Health and Wellness Recovery Center chose Sergeant Charles Cunningham and the Vice Crime Unit as the recipient of the Honoree of the Third Anniversary Celebration because of their efforts in learning about addiction, understanding it is a true disease and that treatment is an alternative to incarceration for an individual committing non-violent offenses due to the symptoms of their disease.
